The northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, also the most populous state, occupied 80 seats in the lower house of the Indian Parliament. It was followed by Maharashtra with 48 seats. The three states of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Bihar account for almost 30 percent of members of Lok Sabha or the lower house of the Indian Parliament.
