Average primetime broadcast viewership of NFL games in the U.S. 2002-2022
In 2022, the average viewership of NFL games at primetime in the United States sank to 4.5 million. This continued the trend of decline in primetime viewership that began in 2002 and was constant except for the years 2006, 2008, and 2013, when there were slight increases in the number of viewers. In comparison, the average television viewership of the NFL regular season only reached below 15 million once between 2010 and 2023.
