According to an October 2022 survey, men in the United States were more likely to participate in cycling activities than women. 40 percent of men indicated that they had cycled at least once in the previous 12 months, while only 27 percent of women indicated that they had cycled in the previous year.

The data represents respondents who, in response to the question "In the past 12 months, how many days have you participated in the following activities?", indicated that they had done so at least once.
*For the 2022 edition of the survey, a total of 15,871 adults living in the United States were surveyed. Data on an additional 8,345 youth between the ages of 3 and 17 was collected by surveying respondents on young people living in their household. The survey was carried out in English.
Count 2022: 24,216; 2020: 22,123; 2018: 21,896; 2016: 24,230; 2014: 25,051
Survey results were weighted for age, gender, region, income, and race and ethnicity to correspond to the 2021 population estimates of the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey.
