As of 2023, close to 50 percent of people believed cancer was very prevalent in Nigeria. An additional 29 percent of people felt that it was somewhat widespread. Moreover, 23 percent of the individuals either did not think the disease was common or did not know. The incidence of cancer in the country showed that close to 30 percent had cancer or had a family member who did.
