In 2022, over 67 percent of the Portuguese light passenger vehicle market were used vehicles imported from the European Union. This steep rise of 17.6 percentage points year-over-year was partly due to the semiconductor shortage, which impacted new car inventory. Portugal's business fleets also faced delayed renewals, which contributed to a decreased stock of used vehicles coming from the national market.
