The amount of Tier 1 capital in the Italian banking industry increased overall between 2016 and 2023, albeit with slight fluctuations. As of the fourth quarter of 2023, it amounted to 198.35 billion euros, which was a slight decline when compared to the previous quarter. Even though the third quarter of 2023 witnessed the highest value during the year, it was higher in 2021 and 2020.
