In a survey on gender equality conducted between November 2022 and January 2023, almost 71 percent disagreed with a gendered division of labor because they felt that a rigid division of roles between husband and wife should not be imposed. Over 64 percent of respondents in Japan disagreed with the statement that a husband should work outside of the home while a wife should take care of the household in the same survey.

Among respondents who expressed disagreement when asked about their thoughts on the idea that "husbands should work outside the home and wives should take care of the home" in a previous question.
Original question: "Why do you disagree? (Select as many as you like)."
The survey used a stratified two-stage random sampling method.
