In 2021, the United States spent approximately 7.7 million U.S. dollars on energy efficiency projects. Almost 80 percent of the expenditure was in electricity programs. In the period under consideration, electric energy programs accounted for the largest share of annual energy efficiency spending in the country. Energy efficiency expenditure in the U.S. peaked in 2019 at 8.3 million U.S. dollars.
