In 2022, some 104,900 used light passenger vehicles were imported from the European Union to Portugal. This represented a year-over-year increase of 44.53 percent compared to the used car imports recorded in 2021. This import volume has been steadily growing since 2020, when it had slumped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This represented around 67.1 percent of the total new light passenger vehicle sales in the country.
