It was estimated that the economic cost of overweight and obesity in Brazil will be equivalent to 4.66 percent of the country's GDP by 2060. This represents an increase of around two percentage points when considering the expected cost for the year 2030. In comparison, it was estimated that this figure reached a share of approximately two percent in 2019, equivalent to a total economic cost of 37 billion U.S. dollars
