The average price of an e-bike nearly doubled between 2019 and 2023. Next to inflation, increasing demand, and supply chain shortages have been driving up prices, the increasing popularity of cargo bikes, which come with a substantially larger price tag, are also contributing to the increase in average e-bike prices.
The average price for a new bicycle without electric assist in Germany rose by 46 percent between 2019 and 2022- However, in 2023, average bike prices fell for the first time in years, largely to a large stock held by retailers and decreasing consumer demand.
