In 2022, a majority of search engine users in the United Kingdom (UK) believed that most of the funding of platforms like Google or Bing came from advertising on their websites. However, around a fifth of respondents didn't actually know how these web portals were actually financed. Overall, 53 percent of the respondents had correct responses to this questions, whereas 26 percent had incorrect beliefs on the matter. In addition, around 65 percent of respondents thought that some of the websites would be accurate and some would not be.
