In 2022, around 84.76 percent of the global electric vehicle sales were sales resulting from the domestic production of these vehicles. This represented nearly nine million sales, compared to 1.6 million units sold from international trade that year. While sales from trade were the less common channel for electric vehicle sales, their volume had been steadily increasing since 2018.
