The Arab States was the region in the world with the highest prevalence of modern slavery in 2021. 10.1 people per 1,000 inhabitants were living in modern slavery in the region. Europe and Central Asia followed behind with 6.9, whereas the Americas had the lowest prevalence rate at five. North Korea was the country with the highest prevalence rate at 104.6 people per 1,000 population.
