Saudi Aramco reported total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of 72.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) in 2023, an increase of roughly 1.1 percent from the previous year. Direct Scope 1 emissions accounted for around three-quarters of the company's emissions in 2023.
The Saudi state-owned oil giant is one of the world's biggest GHG emitters, and was responsible for almost five percent of total global CO₂ emissions produced between 2016 and 2022.
