During a study of the free ad-supported-tv (FAST) services market in Latin America, it was found that the Tastemade channel had the largest number of viewers at the end of 2022, with 66.3 million. Los Archivos del FBI and Misterios sin Resolver, both justice and crime related channels, had 65.9 million viewers each, as did Pluto TV Cine Drama channel at that time.
Lifestyle and crime – leading FAST genres in Latin America
FAST services are the new linear. The popularity of FAST lies not only in its accessibility and affordabilty, but also in the diversity of genres offered. In Latin America, the focus is on lifestyle content and crime, as proven by the viewer numbers of channels such as Tastemade, which offers cooking programming, and true crime series Los Archivos del FBI. In comparison, global audiences are more likely to watch news and movies on FAST channels.
FAST market worldwide
FAST's market revenue worldwide is forecast to reach close to 18 billion U.S. dollars by the end of 2028. The United States is expected to account for the lion’s share of this amount, with the UK and South Korea trailing far behind. Projections suggest that, by 2028, Brazil will generate a little over 400 million dollars in FAST revenue.. Among the most used FAST services worldwide are well known names such as Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus, and Roku Channel.
