In 2022, Los Angeles, Santa Clara, and San Diego were the counties with the largest shared private electric vehicle charger network. Los Angeles recorded some 18,200 shared private chargers that year, most of which were Level 2 chargers using alternating current electricity to charge a vehicle at 208 to 240 volts, providing around 14 to 35 miles of range for each hour of charging. Overall, level 2 chargers were the most popular type for shared private sharging in the U.S. state.

Shared private charging data was compiled by the source using answers from a voluntary survey carried out in 2022. The following providers have submitted a reply to this survey: Blink/SemaConnect, ChargePoint, Enel X, EV Connect, EVCS, EVgo, Flo, FreeWire, Greenlots/Shell, KITU Systems, Department of General Services, Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas & Electric, City of Anaheim, City of Vernon, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, PowerFlex, Redding Public Utility, Rivian, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, Silicon Valley Power, and Tesla.
The following providers did not answer the voluntary survey: Andromeda Power, ChargeBliss, EV Box, EVGateway, EVRUS, Liberty Plugins, Noodoe, Nuuve, OpConnect, SWTCH, Tellus Power, Volta, and Webasto.
Data excludes shared private electric chargers which were reported but not associated with a specific county, listed as "unknown" by the source.
