In 2023, there were around 78,000 work permit renewals for foreign workers in Malaysia through the myEG portal, the Malaysian government digital portal. The number of worker permit renewals in the country has been decreasing in the past few years, which started during the COVID-19 restrictions during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
