At the beginning of 2023, 56.6 percent of businesses majority-owned by women identified rising inflation as an obstacle in the next three months. The second barrier identified was rising costs of inputs, which was seen as a challenge by 40 percent of predominantly women-owned businesses, more than six points lower than among the overall Canadian private sector.

Majority-ownership was self-reported for private sector businesses only." - "The results in this table are based on the survey that was in collection from January 3 to February 6, 2023, and respondents were asked what their expectations would be over the next three-month period. As a result, those three months could range from January 3 to May 6, 2023, depending on when the business responded." - "Businesses that expect supply chain obstacles include businesses that expect at least one of the following: difficulty acquiring inputs, products or supplies from within Canada, difficulty acquiring inputs, products or supplies from abroad, or maintaining inventory levels."
