In 2022, consumers around the world were relatively optimistic about sustainable lifestyles in the future. Specifically, nearly 40 percent of people surveyed in 31 markets believed most people would probably be living more sustainably in the next 10 years. Nearly a fifth of respondents said it would definitely happen. Less than five percent of consumers across the globe were convinced it would not be the case.

* Approximately 1,000 adults were surveyed in each of the 31 markets, with the exception of Hong Kong (500), Kenya (500), Nigeria (500), Singapore (500), and Egypt (850).
This question was phrased by the source as follows: "How likely do you think it is that each of the following will happen in the next ten years?"
The source adds the following information: "The research was designed with and supported by a set of committed partners: Akatu Institute, IKEA, Levi Strauss & Co., M&C Saatchi Group, NYU Stern Center for Sustainable Business, P&G, PepsiCo, Reckitt, Target, Visa, and WWF International."
