According to a survey carried out in the United States in 2021, over two-thirds of hospitals reported there were barriers to electronically receiving health information because there were providers which didn't typically share patient data with them despite sharing patients with the provider. Furthermore, almost 60 percent of hospitals reported when they received electronic health information it was difficult to match or identify the correct patient between systems.
