In 2022, more than six thousand reports had been registered on the user reporting platform of the Inspection Générale de la Police Nationale (IGPN), of which the largest number was recorded in May. The IGPN's reporting platform, created in 2013, is an administrative service offered on the Internet via an online form accessible on the Ministry of the Interior's website, aimed at improving relations between the police and the population.

The source adds the following information: "The reports can be direct (the user complains directly about the action of the police) or indirect (witness or Internet user at a distance of the facts who communicates a video for example on a file of which the institution has sometimes and more and more often, already knowledge). These indirect reports are facilitated by the use of social networks, and are more and more numerous every year."
