By the end of 2021, the number of active mining host IPs in China amounted to 4.7 million. It does not indicate that there are around five million miners in China, but often crypto miners spread out their operations across multiple IP addresses to hide suspicious traffic and avoid detection from the authorities. In addition to that, approximately one-fifth of mining IPs are located outside of China because some cryptocurrency mining operations join so-called mining pools to cover their tracks.
