The annual salary received by members of the United States Congress in 2024 is 174,000 U.S. dollars. This has been the case since 2009. The Government Ethics Reform Act of 1989 provides an automatic cost of living adjustment increase in line with the employment cost index. Despite this, Congress has voted not to accept the annual increase since 2010 maintaining the nominal amount.
