According to a 2022 study, 27 percent of the world's largest 2,500 publicly listed firms had appointed a Chief Data Officer (CDO), up from 21 percent in 2021. The surge has been particularly pronounced in Europe, where 41.6 percent now have a CDO in place. The role has gained increased attention in recent years, as large firms seek to implement an effective data strategy as part of wider digital transformation efforts.
