In 2020, Peru reported the highest prevalence of 15 neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in Latin America and the Caribbean, with about 45.9 thousand cases per 100,000 population. Nicaragua followed, with an estimated prevalence of specific neglected tropical diseases of around 38.8 thousand cases per 100,000 people. That year, the average prevalence of NTDs within the Latin American and Caribbean region was 19.3 thousand cases per 100,000 population.
