In 2020, nearly half of the out-of-school population in French Guiana aged 15 and over had no diploma or a primary school certificate. This proportion, while lower in the other French overseas regions, was still high: it was nearly one-third in Martinique, 33.5 percent in Guadeloupe, and more than 36 percent in La Réunion. In these four regions, the proportion of out-of-school persons with at least a master's level degree was between 5.9 and seven percent.
