Inflation rate in French overseas regions 2022

Between 2017 and 2022, the inflation rate has generally increased in France and in the overseas regions. In Mayotte, for example, it was 0.2 percent in 2017, compared to 7.1 percent five years later. In 2022, inflation was highest in French Polynesia, with a rate of 8.5 percent. 

According to the INSEE, "Inflation is the loss of purchasing power of the currency that results in an increase general and sustainable prices. It must be distinguished from the increase in the cost of living. The loss in value of the money is a phenomenon that strikes the national economy as a whole (households, businesses, etc.).
The index of consumer prices (CPI) is used to assess inflation . This measure is partial since inflation covers a broader scope than just the household consumption."
