In 2022, a single person household would have to earn over 1,189 euros per month in order to be over the poverty threshold in Germany, according to preliminary figures. Since 2007, the amount of money people have to earn to be over the poverty line has increased, due to the fact that the cost of living also increases every year. 2018 was the first year in which a single person had to earn over 1,000 euros in order to be over the poverty risk threshold.

Share of people with less than 60 percent of the average equivalised income in main residence households. The equivalised income is calculated on the basis of the new OECD scale.
From 2011, the representation is based on the updated results of the 2011 census. Due to the effects of switching to a new sample and the effects of population development, the comparability of the microcensus results for the 2016 reporting year with previous years is limited.
Values from previous years were taken from the Excel table from the source.
