From 2017 to 2020, the share of renters who had experienced housing insecurity increased steadily. Furthermore, housing insecurity in the United States affected predominantly Black and Hispanic renters. The share of Black or Hispanic renters who had experienced housing insecurity in 2020 was twice as high compared to White renters.
