As of October 2022, around 60 percent of adults without college degrees surveyed in the United States said they either liked or loved the horror movie genre. Among respondents with college degrees, that share was 24 percentage points lower, at 36 percent. According to another study conducted around that same time, "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th" were the favorite horror film franchises in the U.S.
