In 2021, container ships with a total capacity of about 1.08 million TEUs were delivered worldwide. This represents an increase of over 24 percent compared with the previous year. The capacity of container ship deliveries peaked in 2015 when some 1.73 million TEUs were delivered globally. It is expected that deliveries will increase substantially in 2023 and 2024, reaching 2.34 and 2.83 million TEUs, respectively.
