During 2020-2021, about 21 million patients across India were hospitalised under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). Patients hospitalised in private hospitals accounted for 55 percent of the total share. PM-JAY provides a cover of 500 thousand Indian rupees per family per year for secondary and tertiary care across public and private empanelled hospitals in India.
