All the 20 countries with the highest poverty rates in the world are located in Africa. Somalia and Malawi were to two countries with the highest share of people living on less than 2.15 U.S. dollars a day when adjusting for 2017 Purchasing Power Parities (PPP), both at over 70 percent.
