The share of nuclear energy in South Korea's rated power generation capacity for 2036 has been planned to be around 13 percent while its share in effective capacity was estimated for 22 percent that year. The "10th Basic Plan for Power Supply and Demand" published by the South Korean government in 2023 has planned for nuclear energy to take up a greater share of energy supply compared to that outlined in the previous basic plan.

Rated capacity is the maximum capacity under which it is theoretically possible to generate power within a given amount of time. Effective capacity is the amount of power generated after considering power losses due to voltage conversion and efficiency ratings.
