Before ceasing operations in April 2023, political and right-wing microblogging social media Parler had a tumultuous online presence. The app was reinstated in the Google Play Store at the beginning of September 2022, after agreeing to a more thorough moderation process for the user-generated content hosted on the platform. In December 2022, the United States was the country presenting the highest number of Parler downloads, with around 2.85 thousand downloads from the Google Play Store. Mexico ranked second, with around 1.01 thousand downloads during the month. Parler was removed from the Google Play Store in January 2021, after the events leading to the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021.
