The sports event market experienced a challenging two years as the pandemic created restrictions on events and mass gatherings. However, revenue from sport ticket sales was expected to increase to above pre-pandemic levels across the three biggest regional markets in 2022. In North America, revenues were forecast to reach 15.61 billion U.S. dollars.

The calculation for this statistic is based on Statista Digital Market Outlook figures for digital ticket sales within the relevant event categories, and primary market research data from the Statista Global Consumer survey is used to calculate the offline ticket sales for the relevant markets.
Bias due to regional differences in online penetration and price differences were avoided by including the share of the online population as well as the big mac index into the Modelling approach.
