As of the end of the second quarter of 2024, VPBank, also known as Vietnam Prosperity Joint-Stock Commercial Bank, recorded the highest net interest margin (NIM) among major banks in Vietnam, reaching around 6.4 percent. By comparison, the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) had a NIM of 2.5 percent in the same year, the lowest among the listed banks in the country. This margin refers to the measurement of the differences between interest income and interest payment of financial institutions, such as a bank, adjusted for the value of assets that generate interest owned by the bank.
