More bombs were dropped on the Southeast Asian nations of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia during the Vietnam War by the U.S. and its allies than were dropped in the entirety of the Second World War. The U.S. Department of Defense's data shows that a total of over 2.7 million mission were flown using the 10 most common types of military aircraft throughout the course of the war. Notable operations included Operation Rolling Thunder, which targeted North Vietnam, as well as Operation Barrel Roll, which targeted Laos due to its role in allowing the North Vietnamese regime to supply the communist insurgency in South Vietnam. To this day, Laos remains the most bombed country per capita on the planet.
