During late 2023 and the first half of 2024, the Mexican Chamber of Deputies accepted an increase in the number of paid paternity leave from five days to 20. Nonetheless, the change encounters strong opposition from the private sector and the government, leaving Mexican dad with one of the lowest paid days in Latin America. In contrast, Ecuador and Uruguay recently extended the number of days successfully.
