Australia's financial year runs from July 1 to June 30 of the stated year; for example, financial year 2021 starts on July 1, 2020 and ends on June 30, 2021.
Records were excluded from the calculation of waiting time if the patient did not wait to be attended to by a health care professional, was dead on arrival, was registered, advised of another health care service, and left the emergency department without being attended to by a health care professional, or if the waiting time could not be calculated, or the triage category was unknown.
