In total, tax revenue from casinos and gambling activities amounted to 431 million Costa Rican colones in 2021 (roughly 0.7 million U.S. dollars based on the exchange rate of December 31, 2021). By contrast, the Central American country generated 1.24 billion Costa Rican colones from taxes on gambling in 2019.
