In 2021, an estimated 88 percent of pregnant women living with HIV in Bolivia received antiretroviral drugs for preventing mother-to-child transmission, the highest share among 15 Latin American and Caribbean countries. Haiti followed, with 87 percent of pregnant women living with HIV who had received antiretroviral medicine to prevent perinatal transmission of the virus.
