As of 2021, roughly 76,000 businesses were covered under the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) in Ghana. The number of companies registered with SSNIT grew annually from 2015 onwards. That year, there were roughly 51,200 establishments registered. SSNIT is a statutory public Trust responsible for the basic national social security scheme in Ghana.
