A survey regarding the division of household work among married couples in Tokyo found that women were likely to take on more household responsibilities than men. In the survey conducted in June 2021, close to 50 percent of the respondents stated that in their marriage, wives were responsible for more tasks while husbands did some of the work. Around 3.6 percent of the respondents stated that the opposite was the case.
