In 2022, travel and tourism contributed 7.7 percent to Egypt's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The share increased compared to 2020. However, it declined notably from 8.5 percent in 2019, reflecting the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the sector. Furthermore, the contribution of tourism to GDP is forecast to reach 8.3 percent in 2023.
