Electricity generation capacity from diurnal storage in the United States is projected to grow continuously in the coming decades, nearing 164 gigawatts in 2050. In comparison to 2022, this would represent an increase of roughly 26-fold. In 2022, a capacity of more than 370 gigawatts of battery standalone and battery hybrid projects were in interconnection queues in the U.S.
