Between 2011 and 2021, freight transportation by road has more than doubled in size in the transport and storage industry in the United Kingdom (UK), with an increase of approximately 30,000 local business units. Postal and courier activities have also seen rapid growth in numbers. While only 17,000 businesses operated in the UK in 2011, ten years later, the sector counted 42,000 business units. In 2022, figures slightly declined. That year, the UK counted 154,665 businesses' units.
