The sickness absence rate of NHS staff in England's North East and Yorkshire region stood at six percent in October 2022. Since April 2009, the sickness absence rate of the NHS workforce in this region ranged from three to seven percent. During the coronavirus pandemic, record highs of sickness absences among the NHS staff have been registered.
