During a 2023 survey among consumers from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and Peru, 37 percent of respondents stated that they believed that brands' advertisements reinforced stereotypes about the LGBTQIA+ community. The acronym stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other sexual orientations and gender identities. According to the same study, 60 percent of consumers in Latin America thought brands' promotion of LGBTQIA+ inclusion was not important at all.
